Empiria Group proudly supports the landmark exhibition of Kykladitisses at the newly renovated Archaeological Museum of Thera.
This summer the Archaeological Museum of Thera in Santorini reopens its doors after an extensive renovation, welcoming visitors with a landmark cultural event: the opening of Kykladitisses: Untold Stories of Women in the Cyclades.
Presented by the Museum of Cycladic Art in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Thera, this emblematic exhibition brings to light the overlooked roles, voices, and untold histories of women across the Cyclades — spanning from prehistory to the 19th century.
With more than 180 rare artifacts sourced from 17 Cycladic islands (including Thera, Delos, Naxos, Amorgos, and Mykonos), the exhibition offers a powerful narrative. Visitors encounter deities, priestesses, mothers, artisans, intellectuals, fighters, and immigrants, each revealing how insular life shaped women’s roles in both private and public spheres.
Among the highlights are:
- The colossal Kore of Thira, a nearly 2.5-meter-high archaic statue,
- The iconic "Women in the Sanctuary" fresco from Akrotiri,
- And the Hellenistic Stag-hunting Artemis of Delos, exhibited outside Delos for the first time.
Statuettes, inscriptions, jewelry, mosaics, frescoes, and manuscripts all converge to tell layered stories, sometimes through the voices of women themselves, but more often through the lens of the men who recorded their presence in history.
For Empiria Group, supporting Kykladitisses was a natural extension of our long-standing commitment to preserving and celebrating Cycladic heritage. As the exhibition’s exclusive hospitality partner and a proud donor, we are honored to support this emblematic exhibition.
This collaboration follows our ongoing partnership with the Museum of Cycladic Art — reflecting Empiria Group’s belief that authentic hospitality extends beyond hotel walls and into the cultural life and legacy of the islands we call home.
